Product Overview

The architecture of the IMS Sequential Randomizer Generator centers around the generation of optimized randomizer modules for IMS databases. The main components include the input data set, the randomizer generation module, and the output load module. The input data set contains the database definition, specifying the database structure and the parameters for the randomizing algorithm.

This data set is processed by the randomizer generation module, which is a program executed on z/OS using JCL. The JCL includes EXEC, SYSIN, and SYSLIB statements. The EXEC statement specifies the program to run, SYSIN points to the input data set, and SYSLIB defines the IMS library.

The randomizer generation module reads the input data set, processes the database definition, and generates an optimized randomizer module. The output is a load module that is linked into the IMS system. The generated module is then invoked by IMS during sequential data access operations.

The tool does not use a database or require network ports. The generated module integrates directly into the IMS database environment. The tool replaces the SDO option.
