The architecture of Infosphere Replication Server comprised several key components. The Capture program, running on the source database server, monitored transaction logs to capture data changes. The Apply program, running on the target database server, applied these changes.
The Control Center provided a central management interface. Communication between components primarily used TCP/IP. The Capture program read transaction logs, and the Apply program applied changes to the target database.
The product stored metadata and change data within the DB2 database. Configuration involved setting up database connections, replication definitions, and subscriptions. The ASNCLP command-line tool allowed for scripting and automation of replication tasks.
