The InterSession architecture is designed around three core components: the Session Manager, the TN3270 Web Gateway, and the Configuration Manager. The Session Manager is responsible for managing 3270 sessions, multiplexing a single session to multiple VTAM applications. It interfaces with VTAM to establish and maintain connections.
The TN3270 Web Gateway provides a web-based interface, translating HTTP requests into 3270 data streams. It handles authentication and session management for web users. The Configuration Manager is used for system configuration, user management, and security settings.
Communication between components occurs via internal protocols optimized for mainframe performance. The system uses TN3270 for communication with 3270 terminals and web browsers. The Configuration Manager provides a CLI for direct interaction and a web interface for access.
InterSession supports user ID/password authentication and uses ACLs for access control. Audit logging captures user activities and system events. Example CLI commands include START SESSION session_name, STOP SESSION session_name, and STATUS.
The system stores configuration data on mainframe datasets.
