JHS

The JHS architecture comprises several key components. The JHS Server is the central processing unit, receiving and processing user requests. The Data Manager handles the storage and retrieval of job output data, using VSAM datasets.

The User Interface provides access to the archived data, typically through a TSO/ISPF panel-driven interface. Communication between components occurs via z/OS system calls and internal interfaces. The JHS Server interacts with the JES subsystem to retrieve SYSOUT and SYSLOG data.

Data storage utilizes a hierarchical file structure within VSAM datasets, optimized for efficient retrieval. The system's design emphasizes data integrity and security, with access control managed through z/OS security mechanisms like RACF. The system's configuration is primarily managed through JCL and system parameters, defining data set locations, retention policies, and user access rights.

The system does not expose any external APIs. The system's design prioritizes performance and reliability within the z/OS environment.
