The architecture of MAINVIEW VistaPoint consists of several key components: the VistaPoint Server, the Data Collector, and the ISPF interface. The VistaPoint Server is the central processing unit, responsible for collecting, processing, and presenting performance data. The Data Collector gathers performance metrics from CICS, IMS, and DB2 subsystems.
The ISPF interface provides the primary means of user interaction and administration. Communication between components occurs primarily over TCP/IP. The Data Collector sends performance data to the VistaPoint Server.
The VistaPoint Server stores historical data in a relational database, allowing for trend analysis and reporting. The ISPF interface provides access to configuration parameters, user management, and monitoring dashboards. The product supports RBAC for access control.
The product integrates with other MAINVIEW products, such as MAINVIEW for CICS, MAINVIEW for IMS, and MAINVIEW for DB2. The product uses standard SQL queries for data retrieval and analysis. Compared to Compuware Topaz, VistaPoint offers a more integrated view of application performance by correlating data across different subsystems.
