MF-Test

The architecture of MF-Test is centered around a Windows-based client-server model, designed to interact with the z/OS environment. The core components include the Test Manager, Test Executor, and Result Analyzer. The Test Manager is a GUI-based application used for creating, editing, and managing test cases.

Test cases are defined using a combination of scripting and user-friendly interfaces, allowing users to specify test steps, expected results, and environment configurations. The Test Executor is responsible for running the test cases on the z/OS platform. It communicates with the z/OS environment through standard network protocols, such as TCP/IP, to execute the tests in the specified environments (TSO, CICS, batch).

The Test Executor interacts with the applications under test, simulating user interactions and validating application behavior. The Result Analyzer processes the test results generated by the Test Executor. It provides detailed reports on test outcomes, including pass/fail status, error messages, and performance metrics.

The Result Analyzer also offers features for analyzing test trends, identifying performance bottlenecks, and generating compliance reports. The communication between the Windows client and the z/OS environment is secured through encryption protocols, such as TLS/SSL, to protect sensitive data during transmission. MF-Test integrates with the z/OS security infrastructure, leveraging RACF or similar systems for authentication and access control.

The tool provides comprehensive logging and auditing capabilities, capturing user actions, test results, and system events. The storage mechanism for test cases, configurations, and results is typically file-based, with XML or text files used for configuration and reporting. The primary administrative interface is a GUI, with CLI options for scripting and automation.

The tool supports DB2 and ADABAS databases.
