Product Overview

Realtime Monitor's architecture comprised several key components. The core component was the monitoring engine, responsible for collecting and processing system data. This engine interacted with the z/VM hypervisor to gather metrics on CPU usage, memory allocation, and I/O activity.

Data was displayed through a command-line interface (CLI). Configuration settings, such as monitoring intervals and data logging options, were stored in z/VM system files. There were no external APIs.

The Performance Toolkit for VM is the recommended replacement, offering similar functionality with enhanced features and support.
