Product Overview
The architecture of Rocket Enterprise Server comprises several key components. The Execution Engine is the core, responsible for interpreting and executing mainframe code, including COBOL, PL/I, and JCL. The CICS/IMS Transaction Manager simulates CICS and IMS environments, handling transaction processing.
The Batch Job Manager processes JCL jobs, including utilities like sorting. DB2 database access is supported through a dedicated interface. An IMS DL/I compatible database system is also included.
Communication between components occurs via internal messaging and network protocols. The system uses configuration files to define settings for various components. The CLI is the primary interface for administration and configuration.
User management relies on the underlying operating system's user accounts. The system supports user ID and password authentication. Logging and monitoring tools provide detailed system information.
