System for Generalized Performance Analysis Reporting

The architecture of GPAR was centered around batch processing on the z/OS platform. The main components included a data collection module, a processing engine, and a reporting module. The data collection module gathered performance metrics from various sources, such as SMF records and system logs.

The processing engine transformed and aggregated the collected data, applying filters and calculations as defined in the configuration. The reporting module generated output in predefined formats, including tabular reports and summaries. Data storage was primarily handled using VSAM datasets.

Communication between components was managed through JCL and control cards, which defined the execution sequence and data flow. There were no external APIs. The system relied on batch jobs for all operations.
