Tachyon z/Assembler

The architecture of Tachyon z/Assembler is designed for efficient HLASM program assembly on PC platforms. The main components include the Assembler, Linker, and Listing Generator. The Assembler is responsible for parsing HLASM source code, performing lexical analysis, and generating object code.

The Linker takes object modules as input, resolves external references, and creates executable files. The Listing Generator produces detailed assembly listings, including source code, generated machine code, and symbol tables. Communication between components occurs primarily through file I/O.

The Assembler reads source files and writes object files. The Linker reads object files and creates executable files. The Listing Generator reads object files and generates listing files.

Configuration is managed through assembler directives within the source code and system configuration files. There are no specific network requirements or exposed APIs. The product supports authentication via the host operating system.

Compared to IBM HLASM, Tachyon z/Assembler offers a PC-based development environment, which can improve developer productivity by enabling mainframe development on a PC.
