Product Overview
The architecture of Tivoli Command Center for Sysplex was centered around a client-server model. The server component, running on z/OS, was responsible for managing the Sysplex environment, executing commands, and collecting performance data. The GUI client provided the user interface for interacting with the system.
Communication between the client and server utilized a proprietary protocol. Key components included the Command Center Server, the GUI client, and various monitoring agents that collected data from z/OS subsystems. The server component interfaced with z/OS system services to gather information and execute commands.
The product used RACF for user authentication and access control, ensuring that only authorized users could access system resources. Configuration was primarily managed through the GUI, allowing administrators to define the Sysplex environment, specify the subsystems to be monitored, and configure alerts. The product's functionality has been superseded by Tivoli Omegamon XE for z/OS, which offers more advanced features and ongoing support.
