Vanguard Enforcer

The architecture of Vanguard Enforcer is centered around several key components that work together to provide automated security management for z/OS. The Policy Engine is the core component, responsible for defining and enforcing security policies. These policies are used by the Scanner component, which regularly scans RACF rules to identify violations.

The Event Monitor component continuously monitors system events, looking for suspicious activities that may indicate a security breach. The Notification Manager component is responsible for alerting security administrators of policy violations and security events. Communication between components occurs within the z/OS environment using internal system calls and data sharing mechanisms.

The Scanner, Event Monitor, and Notification Manager interact with the Policy Engine to enforce policies and respond to events. The system uses datasets to store configuration data, including policy definitions, scan schedules, and notification settings. The ISPF interface provides a user-friendly environment for configuring and monitoring the system.
