HLASM Toolkit

The architecture of HLASM Toolkit is centered around several key components that facilitate assembler language development. The assembler (ASMA90) is the core component, responsible for translating assembler source code into object code. The linkage editor (IEWL) then combines these object modules, resolving external references and creating executable programs.

The disassembler provides the capability to reverse engineer object code, aiding in code analysis and understanding. The interactive debug facility allows developers to step through code, examine registers, and memory contents. Communication between these components is primarily through the z/OS operating system.

The assembler and linkage editor utilize JCL for configuration. There are no specific databases or storage mechanisms used by the toolkit itself. Network requirements are minimal, as the toolkit operates within the z/OS environment.

Security relies on the underlying z/OS security features, such as RACF. Compared to other assemblers, HLASM Toolkit's integration with the z/OS environment and its debugging capabilities are key differentiators.
