The architecture of IMS PARS comprised several key components. The data extraction module read IMS log datasets, filtering data based on user-defined criteria. The reporting engine processed the extracted data, calculating performance metrics and generating reports.
The output formatter structured the data into readable reports. Communication between components was primarily internal, within the batch job. Data was stored in temporary datasets during processing.
The tool used JCL for job submission and control cards for configuration. There were no external APIs or network requirements. The primary interface was the JCL execution environment on z/OS.
Since IMS PARS is not supported, organizations should consider the architectural implications of migrating to a supported solution.
