Product Overview

The architecture of Infoprint Transforms to AFP is centered around the transformation of various input formats into AFP for printing on AFP-compatible printers. The main components include the transformation engine, the input data parser, the AFP generator, and the Infoprint Server print queue. The transformation engine is responsible for applying the transformation rules defined in configuration files and through the Infoprint Server interface.

The input data parser reads and interprets the input data, such as PCL, PostScript, PDF, or SAP ERP output. The AFP generator then creates the AFP output, which is sent to the Infoprint Server print queue for distribution. Communication between components occurs within the z/OS environment, utilizing standard protocols.

The product leverages z/OS for security, including authentication, access control, and encryption. User management is handled through z/OS security features and the Infoprint Server configuration. The system uses configuration files to define transformation rules, including font mapping, page formatting, and other print attributes.

Monitoring and logging are provided through z/OS system logs and the Infoprint Server.
