Job and Syslog Facility

The architecture of Job and Syslog Facility is designed for high availability, scalability, and security. The main components include the Archival Engine, Indexing Service, Retrieval Interface, and Security Manager. The Archival Engine captures SYSOUT data from JES2 and stores it in a designated storage system, such as VSAM or a z/OS file system.

The Indexing Service creates and maintains indexes for efficient data retrieval, using a database like DB2 or a custom indexing solution. The Retrieval Interface provides access to archived data through ISPF, batch jobs, and the REST API. The Security Manager integrates with z/OS security mechanisms, providing role-based access control and audit logging.

Communication between components is facilitated through TCP/IP and internal z/OS services. The system supports various output formats and offers flexible retention policies. Network requirements include connectivity to the z/OS system and the storage system.
