Product Overview
The architecture of Mainstar Rapid Database Refresh for IMS comprised several key components. The refresh engine was responsible for the actual data copy operation, reading data from the source database and writing it to the target database. The control card processor interpreted user-defined parameters, such as source and target database names, and other options.
JCL was used to submit jobs that invoked the refresh engine. Configuration was managed through control cards and datasets. The product did not expose any APIs.
The communication between components was primarily through z/OS system calls and dataset I/O. The product's primary function is now part of Clone and Rename for IMS. Compared to manual methods, it automated the database copy process, reducing the risk of errors and improving efficiency.
The product is not supported.
