The architecture of MQSeries Link for R/3 comprised several key components. The SAP Adapter, residing within the SAP R/3 system, handled the interaction with SAP applications. The MQ Client, also within the SAP environment, provided the interface to WebSphere MQ.
The MQ Server, running on z/OS, managed the message queues and handled message delivery. Communication between the SAP Adapter and MQ Client used TCP/IP. Data was stored in MQ queues managed by the MQ Server.
Configuration involved defining RFC destinations in SAP, configuring MQ queue managers, and mapping data between SAP and MQ message formats. The product is not supported; alternative architectures involve modern integration platforms with robust messaging capabilities.
