Raincode Datakom

The Raincode Datakom architecture is designed to provide a comprehensive solution for migrating CA Datacom/DB databases to SQL databases and CA Ideal applications to CICS environments. The core components include the Datacom/DB to SQL converter, the Ideal to CICS translator, the data migration engine, and the configuration and management interface. The Datacom/DB to SQL converter analyzes the Datacom/DB schema, including data structures, indexes, and constraints, and translates it into the equivalent SQL schema for the target database.

The Ideal to CICS translator converts Ideal code, including data access logic, business rules, and user interface components, into CICS-compatible code. The data migration engine handles the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from the source Datacom/DB to the target SQL database. This component supports various data transfer methods and ensures data integrity during the migration process.

The configuration and management interface provides a centralized point for configuring the migration parameters, monitoring the progress, and managing the overall migration process. The communication between these components is primarily internal, using a combination of file-based interfaces and in-memory data structures. The tool uses configuration files to define the migration parameters, including database connection details, data mappings, and code conversion rules.

The tool supports various SQL databases as target systems. The migration process involves several steps, including schema conversion, code conversion, data migration, and validation. The tool provides detailed logging for monitoring and troubleshooting the migration process.
