The architecture of Screensurfer comprises several key components. The Screen Conversion Engine is responsible for capturing the 3270 data stream and converting screen elements into HTML. The HTML Rendering Engine then formats these elements for display in a web browser.
The Communication Manager handles the TN3270 connection to the mainframe and the HTTP communication with the web server. The administrative console provides a web-based interface for configuration and management. The Java API allows for custom integrations.
Data storage is primarily in memory during screen conversion. Network requirements include access to the mainframe via TN3270 (port 23) and access to the Screensurfer server via HTTP (port 80 or 443). Security is implemented through HTTPS and integration with existing authentication systems.
