Product Overview

The architecture of Shadow IDMS Extensions is centered around several key components designed to extend the functionality of CA IDMS on the z/OS platform. OCA-TCPIP provides TCP/IP communication capabilities, allowing IDMS applications to interact with external systems over a network. OCA-MQSeries facilitates integration with IBM MQSeries, enabling message queuing and reliable data transfer.

OCA-DB2 provides access to DB2 databases, allowing IDMS applications to read and write data. OCA-EXCI enables the use of EXCI transactions. OCA-COMMIT handles transaction control.

OCA-SYSLINK provides system linking capabilities. These components communicate through well-defined interfaces and protocols. For example, OCA-TCPIP uses standard TCP/IP sockets for network communication, while OCA-MQSeries uses the MQSeries API for message queuing.

The extensions leverage the underlying z/OS security infrastructure for authentication and access control. Configuration parameters are stored within the IDMS and z/OS environments, and monitoring and logging capabilities are provided through these systems. The extensions are designed to be highly scalable and reliable, ensuring that they can meet the demands of enterprise-level applications.

The architecture is designed to minimize the impact on existing IDMS applications, making it easier to integrate the extensions into existing environments.
