The architecture of Stand Alone Environment (SAE) is designed for standalone operation and independence from the primary z/OS system. The main components include Action Services, Stand Alone Restore, Image Services, and Hardware Confirmation. Action Services provides the interface for accessing z/OS disks and datasets.
Stand Alone Restore handles the restoration of datasets from various backup formats, including IEBCOPY, IEBGENER, DFSMSdss, and FDRABR. Image Services identifies disk units and datasets used by a z/OS image. Hardware Confirmation verifies hardware components without requiring z/OS to be active.
These components communicate through internal system calls and utilize DASD for data storage. There are no specific network requirements, as SAE operates in a standalone environment. Configuration is managed through specific configuration files that define system parameters, disk unit information, and security settings.
The Fast DASD Erase feature is integrated to ensure secure data removal after testing. SAE's architecture prioritizes data integrity and operational efficiency, providing a robust solution for disaster recovery.
