TELON PC's architecture comprised a design facility, a code generator, and a runtime environment. The design facility was the central component, providing a GUI for defining the application's metadata. This included defining entities, attributes, relationships, business rules, and screen layouts.
The code generator translated the design metadata into COBOL source code. The runtime environment provided the necessary support for executing the generated COBOL applications. Communication between components was primarily file-based, with the design facility writing metadata to configuration files and the code generator reading these files to produce COBOL code.
The generated COBOL code would then interact with the runtime environment. The system used configuration files to store project settings, interface definitions, and other configuration parameters. The product is no longer supported; users should migrate to a supported platform.
