Product Overview

The architecture of Tivoli Omegamon XE for DB2 comprised several key components. The core component was the monitoring agent, which resided on the z/OS system and collected data from the DB2 subsystem. This agent communicated with the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server (TEMS) for data aggregation and analysis.

The TEMS, in turn, communicated with the Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP), providing a graphical user interface for monitoring and administration. Data was stored in a relational database, such as DB2, for historical analysis. The product used a proprietary protocol for communication between its components.

The agent collected data for Tivoli Monitoring. The product supported authentication through the z/OS security infrastructure and access control via the z/OS security model, including RACF. The product is no longer supported; users should migrate to a supported monitoring solution such as Tivoli Omegamon XE for DB2 Performance Monitor or Tivoli Omegamon XE for DB2 Performance Expert.

These products offer enhanced features and support for modern DB2 environments.
