Product Overview
The architecture of Tivoli Output Manager (TOM) on z/OS is centered around automating report and print output management. The core components include the TOM Server, which manages the overall system; Output Queues, which handle the flow of reports; and the Db2 database, which stores the report data. The TOM Server acts as the central control point, receiving output, managing queues, and facilitating distribution.
Output Queues are configured to handle different types of reports and destinations. The Db2 database stores report metadata and the report content itself, ensuring data integrity and efficient retrieval. Communication between components is primarily internal, with the TOM Server interacting with the Output Queues and Db2.
The Command Line Interface (CLI) provides administrative access for managing the system. TOM's design emphasizes automation, providing a reliable platform for report handling. The system's modular design allows for customization and integration with existing z/OS environments.
The use of Db2 databases allows for efficient storage and retrieval of report data. The system's design focuses on automation, providing a reliable platform for report handling.
