Product Overview

The architecture of DARSTRAN IMS is centered around three primary components: the IMS Source Connector, the Transformation Engine, and the RDBMS Target Connector. The IMS Source Connector extracts data from the IMS databases on the z/OS platform. The Transformation Engine handles data transformation, mapping IMS data structures to the target RDBMS schema.

This includes data type conversions, null value handling, and the application of data integrity constraints. The RDBMS Target Connector loads the transformed data into the target relational database, such as DB2, MySQL, Oracle, or Sybase. Communication between these components occurs over TCP/IP.

The administrative interfaces, including the CLI and web-based console, provide control over the replication process. The `REPLICATE` command initiates the data transfer, with options for full or incremental replication. Security is managed through authentication mechanisms and the security features of the target RDBMS.

The tool supports encryption for data in transit and at rest. The tool's ability to transform data during replication and its broad database support differentiate it from other solutions. The tool uses TCP/IP for network communication.

The tool's comprehensive data transformation capabilities and broad database support are key differentiators. This ensures data integrity and supports compliance requirements.
