Entire Systems Server

The architecture of Entire Systems Server comprises several key components. The Entire Systems Server Agent, residing on the non-mainframe system, handles client requests and communication. The Mainframe Connector, installed on the z/OS or z/VSE/VSEn mainframe, processes requests and interacts with mainframe resources.

The API Gateway acts as an intermediary, managing API requests and responses. Communication between the Agent and the Mainframe Connector occurs over TCP/IP. Data storage is handled through the mainframe's existing storage mechanisms.

The API Gateway exposes REST APIs, with endpoints such as `/api/datasets/{datasetName}` for dataset operations and `/api/jobs` for job management. Configuration files, typically in XML or JSON format, define connection parameters, security settings, and user-defined functions. The product supports various authentication methods, including user ID/password and certificate-based authentication.

Access control is managed through role-based permissions, allowing administrators to define user roles and assign permissions. Monitoring and logging capabilities provide detailed information on system performance and security events. The product supports TLS/SSL encryption for secure communication.
