Product Overview

The architecture of HiperLoad for VSAM comprised several key components designed for high-speed data loading. The I/O Optimization component managed the efficient reading and writing of data to and from VSAM datasets. The Data Transformation component handled any necessary data conversions or formatting during the load process.

The Error Handling component ensured data integrity and provided mechanisms for handling and reporting errors. Communication between these components was managed internally within the HiperLoad for VSAM execution environment. Data was loaded directly into VSAM datasets, which could be KSDS, ESDS, or RRDS types.

Configuration was primarily achieved through JCL parameters and control cards within the input data file. Security relied on the z/OS security subsystem, such as RACF, for access control. There were no external APIs or network requirements.

The product is no longer supported; migrate to Softworks Performance Essential or another VSAM load utility.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is HiperLoad for VSAM?

HiperLoad for VSAM is a high-speed data loading utility designed for z/OS systems. It accelerates the process of loading data into VSAM datasets, improving performance compared to standard utilities. It was initially released in 1992.

How does HiperLoad for VSAM improve performance?

HiperLoad for VSAM is designed to load data into VSAM datasets more efficiently than standard utilities. It achieves this through optimized I/O operations and parallel processing techniques. This leads to faster load times, especially for large datasets.

What VSAM dataset types does HiperLoad for VSAM support?

HiperLoad for VSAM supports various VSAM dataset types, including KSDS, ESDS, and RRDS. It is compatible with different record formats and data structures commonly used in z/OS environments.

What are the main use cases for HiperLoad for VSAM?

The primary use case is to load large volumes of data into VSAM datasets quickly. This is crucial for initial data population, data migration, and regular data updates in applications that rely on VSAM storage.
