The architecture of Host Data Connect consisted of several key components. The Data Access Server acted as the central point of communication, residing on a Windows server and interacting with the mainframe via TCP/IP. The Data Definition Manager allowed users to define data mappings between mainframe data structures and Windows-compatible formats.
Client Libraries provided the APIs for Windows applications to access the mainframe data. The Data Access Server used TCP/IP for communication. The product supported user ID and password authentication.
Data definitions were stored in configuration files. The product is no longer supported; users should migrate to a supported solution.
