Share Your ExperienceInfoprint Transform for AFP to Adobe PostScript
Product Overview
The architecture consisted of three main components: the AFP Input Interpreter, the Resource Mapper, and the PostScript Output Generator. The AFP Input Interpreter parsed the AFP data stream, identifying data and control codes. The Resource Mapper translated AFP resources, such as fonts, overlays, and images, into their PostScript equivalents.
This component utilized configuration files to define the mapping rules. The PostScript Output Generator created the final PostScript file, incorporating the translated data and resources. These components communicated internally through memory and data structures within the transform process.
The transform did not use external databases. Storage was primarily z/OS datasets. Network requirements were minimal, primarily for accessing input and output datasets.
The transform was invoked via JCL, with configuration parameters specified in the JCL or referenced via configuration files. The product is not supported; IBM Print Transform is the recommended replacement.
