Product Overview

The architecture of Infoprint Transform for AFP to HP PCL comprised several key components. The AFP parser was responsible for interpreting the AFP data stream, extracting information about text, graphics, and formatting. The PCL generator then translated this information into the corresponding PCL commands.

The resource manager handled fonts, character sets, and other resources required for the transformation. The transformation process was initiated through JCL, which specified the input AFP data set and the output PCL data set. The `afppcl` command was used to invoke the transformation.

The product did not expose any APIs. Security relied on z/OS security features, such as RACF, to control access to the JCL and data sets. The product is not supported.

IBM Print Transform is the recommended replacement. Migration requires updating JCL and print definitions to use the new transformation process.
