Maxicode Encoder

The Maxicode Encoder architecture comprises three primary components: the barcode generation engine, the API interface, and the configuration file parser. The barcode generation engine is responsible for creating the Maxicode barcode image based on the provided data and configuration parameters. The API interface provides functions for COBOL and C applications to interact with the encoder, including setting data fields, configuring barcode parameters, and generating the barcode image.

The configuration file parser reads and applies configuration settings from a configuration file, allowing administrators to customize barcode dimensions, data encoding schemes, and error correction levels. Communication between components is primarily through internal API calls. The API interface exposes functions that the barcode generation engine uses to process data and generate the barcode.

The configuration file parser loads configuration settings into the barcode generation engine. Security is managed through integration with z/OS security systems such as RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret, using authentication methods like LDAP and Kerberos. Access control is enforced using Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).

Competing products may offer similar architectures, but Maxicode Encoder is specifically designed for z/OS, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and leveraging z/OS security infrastructure. This focus on z/OS minimizes the need for extensive modifications to existing applications and reduces the risk of compatibility issues.
