MultiTerm/MVS

The architecture of MultiTerm/MVS is designed for high availability and efficient session management in z/OS environments. The core components include the Session Manager, Terminal Interface, VTAM Interface, and Configuration Manager. The Session Manager is the central component, responsible for managing multiple VTAM sessions.

It handles session allocation, deallocation, and switching between sessions. The Terminal Interface manages the interaction with 3270 devices, translating user input and displaying output. The VTAM Interface handles communication with VTAM, establishing and maintaining connections to mainframe applications.

The Configuration Manager is responsible for loading and managing configuration files, which define session parameters, user profiles, and system settings. Communication between components is primarily internal, using z/OS system services and VTAM. Data storage relies on z/OS datasets for configuration files and logging.

Network requirements include connectivity to VTAM and the mainframe applications. Security is implemented through integration with RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret, providing role-based access control (RBAC). Audit logs track user activities and system events.

The system's design prioritizes efficient resource utilization and reliable session management, ensuring that users can access multiple mainframe applications concurrently. The architecture supports scalability and high availability through z/OS system features.
