Multiterm/VSE

The core architecture of Multiterm/VSE consists of several key components. The Multiterm/VSE control program acts as the central manager, coordinating all operations. Session managers handle individual VTAM sessions, managing the flow of data between the 3270 devices and the VTAM applications.

Device handlers manage the physical 3270 devices, handling input and output operations. Communication between these components occurs through VTAM. Configuration is stored in system files, including session definitions and device definitions.

The `DEFINE SESSION` command specifies the LU name, connection parameters, and other session-specific settings. The `DEFINE DEVICE` command defines the 3270 device's address and other device-specific settings. The `CONNECT` command establishes the link between a device and a session.

Monitoring is facilitated through system logs and the `DISPLAY SESSION` command, which provides real-time session status information. Security relies on the underlying zVSE/VSEn security features, including user authentication and access controls. Compared to native VTAM, Multiterm/VSE provides enhanced session management capabilities, allowing a single 3270 device to access multiple VTAM sessions concurrently.

This architecture is designed for efficiency and scalability within the zVSE/VSEn environment.
