The architecture of SearchManager/370 comprised several key components. The CICS transaction processing system served as the runtime environment, managing user interactions and application logic. Document storage was handled through VSAM files or other mainframe storage mechanisms.
The search engine was responsible for indexing and retrieving documents based on user queries. Communication between components occurred within the mainframe environment, primarily through CICS. The system did not use standard network ports in the same way as modern applications.
The administrative interface was primarily a CICS-based interface, with configuration parameters managed through CICS transactions. User management was handled through CICS security. The system's design was optimized for the mainframe environment, providing a centralized document repository and search capabilities.
However, due to its end-of-life status, organizations should migrate to a modern platform.
