The architecture of Teleprocessing Network Simulator (TPNS) is centered around a Simulation Engine, which is the core component responsible for executing the simulation logic. The Configuration Manager is used for defining and managing the simulation environment, including network topology, device characteristics, and protocol behaviors. The Protocol Stacks component emulates the TCP/IP and SNA/VTAM protocols, enabling the simulation of network communications.
TPNS uses configuration files, typically datasets, to define the characteristics of simulated devices and network behaviors. The Simulation Engine processes these configurations to emulate network interactions. There are no external APIs.
The product has been replaced by Workload Simulator.
