The architecture of Tivoli Omegamon XE for WebSphere Application Server comprised several key components. The monitoring agent, deployed on the z/OS system, collected performance data from the WebSphere Application Server. This agent communicated with the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server (TEMS) using TCP/IP.
The TEMS acted as a central repository, storing the collected data and providing a management interface. The Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) provided a graphical user interface for viewing and analyzing the data. The agent used JMX to gather metrics from the JVM, servlets, and other components.
Configuration was managed through the TEP and configuration files. The product supported basic authentication. The agent's configuration files defined the specific metrics to be monitored and the thresholds for alerts.
Compared to competitors, Omegamon XE offered a more limited feature set and did not support modern APM capabilities. However, this product is no longer supported.
