The architecture of ULTRAOPT is designed to efficiently compress and optimize 3270 data streams within a z/OS environment. The core components include the Data Stream Interceptor, the Compression Engine, and the Configuration Manager. The Data Stream Interceptor resides within the z/OS system and intercepts 3270 data streams.
It captures both inbound and outbound data, ensuring that all traffic is processed. The Compression Engine employs proprietary compression algorithms optimized for 3270 data. These algorithms identify and remove redundant data, reducing the overall size of the data transmitted over the network.
The Configuration Manager provides a centralized interface for managing the product's settings. It allows administrators to configure compression levels, define exception rules, and monitor performance metrics. The communication between components is primarily internal to the z/OS system.
The Data Stream Interceptor passes data to the Compression Engine for processing. The Configuration Manager interacts with the other components to apply settings and monitor performance. There are no external databases or storage mechanisms used by ULTRAOPT.
The product operates at the TCP/IP layer, intercepting and processing 3270 data streams without requiring changes to the underlying protocols.
