Product Overview

The architecture of webMethods EntireX is designed to facilitate seamless integration between mainframe and modern applications. The core components include the Communicator, XML Mediator, and Adapters. The Communicator acts as the central hub, managing communication between different components and applications.

It supports various protocols, including TCP/IP, and handles the routing of messages. The XML Mediator is responsible for transforming data between different formats, enabling interoperability between systems. It supports XML-based transformations and can handle complex data mappings.

The Adapters provide connectivity to back-end systems, such as CICS and APPC on the mainframe. These adapters translate requests and responses between the EntireX environment and the mainframe applications. The communication flow typically involves a client application sending a request to the Communicator, which then routes the request to the appropriate Adapter.

The Adapter interacts with the mainframe application, and the response is sent back through the Adapter, the XML Mediator (if needed), and finally to the client application. The system uses configuration files to define services, mappings, and security settings. Monitoring and logging are critical aspects of the architecture, with the Communicator and Adapters generating detailed logs for troubleshooting and performance analysis.

Security is implemented through authentication and access control mechanisms, ensuring that only authorized users can access sensitive data and functionalities. The EntireX Workbench provides a GUI for designing, deploying, and managing the integration solutions.
