The architecture of IBM OMEGAMON for Messaging comprises several key components. The OMEGAMON agent, deployed on the z/OS system, collects performance data from IBM MQ and IBM Integration Bus. This agent communicates with the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server (TEMS) using TCP/IP.
The TEMS acts as a central data repository and management server. The Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) provides a graphical user interface for monitoring and managing the messaging environment. The TEP connects to the TEMS to retrieve real-time and historical data.
Data is stored in a data warehouse for long-term analysis and reporting. The agent configuration involves specifying connection details for the TEMS, monitoring thresholds, and alert settings. The solution supports user ID/password authentication and RBAC for access control.
The agent uses a proprietary protocol for communication with the TEMS. The solution integrates with the Tivoli Monitoring logging and auditing features, providing detailed logs of user activities and system events. Compared to other monitoring solutions, OMEGAMON provides deep integration with IBM MQ and IBM Integration Bus, offering specific metrics and insights.
