The architecture of Omegamon for DB2 comprised several key components designed to monitor and analyze Db2 performance on z/OS. The Data Collector was responsible for gathering performance data from the Db2 subsystem. The Agent processed this data, performing calculations and aggregations to provide meaningful insights.
The ISPF interface provided a user interface for interacting with the system, allowing users to view performance metrics, issue commands, and configure monitoring parameters. Communication between these components occurred through internal protocols. The product utilized the Db2 catalog for storing configuration and historical data.
Configuration was primarily managed through PARMGEN, which allowed administrators to define monitoring intervals, thresholds, and other parameters. The product did not expose any APIs. The main ports used were internal and not directly exposed.
The product's functionality is now available in other solutions.
