Product Overview

The architecture of OpenSSH Accelerator for z/OS is designed to optimize the performance of OpenSSH and SFTP by leveraging the z/Architecture CPACF hardware. The main components include the Accelerator Engine, which is responsible for managing the cryptographic operations and interacting with the CPACF Interface. The CPACF Interface provides the low-level access to the CPACF hardware, enabling hardware acceleration of cryptographic functions.

The Configuration Manager handles the configuration settings, such as enabling CPACF usage, setting logging levels, and selecting cryptographic algorithms. The Logging and Monitoring module collects and stores logs and performance metrics for auditing and troubleshooting. The Accelerator Engine offloads cryptographic operations to the CPACF hardware, such as AES and SHA-256, reducing the CPU load on the z/OS system.

The product integrates with the standard OpenSSH and z/OS logging and monitoring tools. The product utilizes configuration files to manage settings such as CPACF usage, logging levels, and other operational parameters. These files allow administrators to customize the behavior of the accelerator to suit specific system requirements.
