The architecture of tcEXPRESS/ODBC comprised several key components. The ODBC Driver Manager acted as an intermediary between the application and the ODBC driver. The tcEXPRESS/ODBC driver, specific to DB2 and Informix, translated ODBC calls into database-specific SQL.
ini` file was central to configuration, defining Data Source Names (DSNs), database server addresses, and authentication parameters. Applications communicated with the driver via the ODBC API, using functions like `SQLConnect`, `SQLExecute`, and `SQLFetch`. The driver used TCP/IP for network communication with the database servers.
The system relied on the underlying database systems for data storage and retrieval. The driver supported SQL-92. This product is no longer supported; migrate to a current ODBC driver.
