Product Overview
The architecture comprised the Webmethods Integration Server, the Mainframe Connector, and the mainframe applications (CICS, IMS). The Integration Server acted as the central integration point, exposing mainframe functionality as web services. The Mainframe Connector handled communication with the mainframe via SNA or TCP/IP.
Data storage was primarily within the mainframe databases. Network requirements included connectivity to the mainframe via SNA or TCP/IP, with specific ports configured for communication. The Integration Server required access to the mainframe and the client applications.
The Mainframe Connector translated between the Integration Server's protocols and the mainframe's protocols. The product is not supported. Software AG EntireX offers a similar architecture.
